Graz Airport services Austria's second-biggest city and the state of Styria as a whole. Located just south of the city centre, this airport is the main gateway to southern Austria, which is a popular vacation destination due to its historic and cultural significance. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with Eggenberg Castle and the Glockenspiel clock among the leading attractions, along with a historic Old Town district.
The airport services just under one million passengers a year and is located to the south of the city centre. It is easily accessible from the A9 and A2 motorways. This complex also provides easy access to the neighbouring countries of
Hungary and Slovenia.
Graz Airport services both scheduled and seasonal flights. Scheduled flights are operated by Air Berlin, Lufthansa, Ryanair, Sky Airlines and Tunis Air. Seasonal flights provide connections mostly to southern
Spain and
Greece, while
London Stansted is also served.

Graz Airport is located approximately 8 km / 5 miles south of the city centre. Increasing numbers of passengers have led to the extension of the existing terminal, as well as the development of a second terminal. From the grounds, it is easy to access other Austrian cities such as Klagenfurt - roughly 130 km / 81 miles to the south-west, and Kapfenberg - some 73 km / 45 miles to the north.

- The airport offers Wi-Fi access throughout the terminal buildings
- Heinemann Duty Free shops are available for those on international flights
- One banking branch of Steiermärkische Bank und Sparkassen AG, with exchange services and an ATM, is available in the Arrivals hall
- Travel essentials and snacks can be purchased at the Spar supermarket
- Car hire options are available in the Arrivals area, including Sixt, Avis and Budget
- Passengers can choose from a restaurant, a coffee shop and a bar. The Globetrotter restaurant is of note and located on the first floor
- The airport is well-equipped to help disabled passengers, with ramps, wheelchair hire and special guides on call
- A playground for children
- Business services, including conference rooms, on the first floor of the Departures terminal
- Parking is available both outdoors and indoors (multi-storey garage). There are around 1,400 outdoor spaces and almost 850 indoor spaces. Short-term parking is for under 30 minutes, while long-term parking is for up to 31 days
Cars
The city centre can easily be reached from the airport by car, either via the A9 motorway (Phym Autobahn/ Mautstrasse) or the local 67 road (Eggenberger Gürtel). The drive takes less than 20 minutes in duration and the roads are well-signposted. The next largest city, Klagenfurt, can be reached directly via the A2 motorway (Sub Autobahn / Mautstrasse).
Buses
There is a public bus stop just outside the terminal, providing direct links to the centre of Graz. On weekdays, the bus service is available twice an hour, although on weekends, this service is limited to roughly once every two hours. There are also several private bus companies that provide airport transfers, such as SMS Flughafentransfer.
Trains
The airport train station is a mere three-minute walk from the terminal building. Trains provide direct connections to the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) on the western side of central Graz. Weekday connections run about once or twice an hour (during peak times), with a once-hourly service at weekends.
Taxis
Taxis are readily available outside the Arrivals area of the passenger terminal and are a convenient transportation option. Be sure to choose licensed cabs, which have a 'taxi' sign on the roof and an official sticker in the window.
